Kaitlyn S. - Success Story

Kaitlyn

In January 2010 I came to Gateway (now Connect to College) hoping to find the flexibility and support I needed to finish my diploma. As a new mom, high school just wasn't working for me. I knew I needed something else if I was ever going to graduate. My first semester in C2C, I received a "Shining Star" award for academic excellence and overall achievement. Winning the award was a nice boost - it just reminded me that I had the capability to succeed and reach my dreams. I faced some really challenging times along the way, but I'm proud to say I made it! I graduated in May 2012 with a diploma, 36 college credits, and a 3.1 college GPA. I'm married now, and mom to two amazing little boys, so I don't have a lot of time to focus on myself these days. But, I know I've got to get more education so I can get the kind of job that will help support my family. I plan to return to Tri-County this fall and take some additional courses and then, hopefully, start the radiology program at AnMed in the spring of 2013. (Kaitlyn is a graduate of West-Oak High School, School District of Oconee County.)
