Tom Lawrence is currently serving as the Public Services Department Head. His college contributions include service on the faculty senate, paralegal & criminal justice advisory committees and advisor to the Criminal Justice Association.
Mr. Lawrence is a fifteen-year law enforcement veteran, holding supervisory and line positions at the federal, county, and municipal levels. He is a distinguished graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and USAF Special Investigators Course. Mr. Lawrence is a certified federal criminal investigator, military criminal investigator and law enforcement officer in the State of California. He performed an array of duties including: Federal Procurement Fraud & War Crime Investigations, Financial Crimes Detective, SWAT, K9, Field Training Officer, Hostage Negotiations Supervisor, Patrol Supervisor, Watch Commander, Crime Scene & Community Policing Supervisor, Property & Evidence Manager, Academy Instructor, and Training Coordinator.
Mr. Lawrence was elected for two consecutive terms as a public safety labor negotiator and served on several executive-level committees. He was designated as an in-house case law expert and policy author while on staff for a California law enforcement agency. Mr. Lawrence holds an undergraduate degree in management from Saint Mary's College and graduate degree in criminal justice from Boston University. He is a member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
