8 Steps to Enrollment

8 Steps to Enrollment for New, Transfer, and Returning Students

Step 1: Complete the Admissions Process

Submit an Application for Admission at www.tctc.edu/apply.

Pay the $30 non-refundable application fee. Mailed payments must be received on or before the admission deadline date.

Submit proof of an official high school diploma or transcript verifying graduation or GED completion.  If you are a current high school senior, you will be admitted provisionally for one term until appropriate documentation of graduation is provided.  Applicants without a high school/GED credential may be admitted into certificate programs.  Applicants under the age of 17 not seeking dual enrollment courses are required to meet with the Dean of Enrollment Management to determine eligibility for admission.  Also submit final, official transcripts for all colleges attended. If you send proof of an associate degree or higher on an official transcript from a regionally accredited institution, you are not required to provide your high school credential.

Complete the admission requirements by the deadline date for the semester you plan to enroll:

Spring Semester, Session C (2nd 7 weeks) - 5 p.m., February 27, 2012 - PDF Application Only

Summer Semester - 5 p.m., May 2, 2012

Fall Semester - 5 p.m., July 30, 2012

Once Step 1 is complete, you will be mailed an acceptance packet that includes your eTC portal login information. Use this information to access all of the College's resources available through eTC. For questions regarding Step 1, contact Admissions at 864-646-1550 or info@tctc.edu.

Step 2: Apply for Financial Aid

FAFSA applications may be completed online at www.fafsa.gov. Our federal school code is 004926. Check the status of your financial aid application on Step 2 of the eTC Get Ready tab. For questions regarding Step 2, contact Financial Aid at 864-646-1650 or finaid@tctc.edu. NOTE: If you are not interested in receiving any federal or state aid, including SC Lottery Tuition Assistance, you do not need to submit the FAFSA.

Step 3: Complete the Pre-Orientation Assessments

Two assessments must be completed before attending orientation:  SmarterMeasure and the placement test.  Find more information about both assessments on Step 3 of the eTC Get Ready tab.

  1. Once you are admitted (Step 1), log into eTC and go to Step 3 on the Get Ready tab to take the online SmarterMeasure assessment.  Results from this learning readiness assessment will provide helpful information to you and your academic advisor.
  2. The placement test is an academic assessment that can be taken at any of the campus locations listed below.  Information and sample questions are available at www.tctc.edu under Admissions and Placement Testing. Once you are admitted, you can also access testing information on Step 3 of the eTC Get Ready tab.  There is no charge for initial testing, and scores are valid for 3 years.  Enrollment at the College depends upon your making a sufficient reading score.  If you have completed college courses in English and math or have previously taken COMPASS or ASSET, placement testing may not be necessary. For additional questions about testing, contact the Assessment Center at 864-646-1300 or placement@tctc.edu.
