South Carolina Certified Logistics Technician (SCCLT)

 Objective(s): The South Carolina Certified Logistics Technician (SCCLT) program offers both entry-level and incumbent workers the opportunity to demonstrate that they have acquired the skills increasingly needed in the technology-intensive jobs of the 21st century. The SCCLT training and credentialing system is based on industry-defined, annually updated national standards for the core technical competencies of frontline material handling and distribution workers in production sites, warehouses, distribution centers and transporters.   Individuals are assessed for two credentials: the Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) certificate and Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) Certification. CLA is a prerequisite for CLT.  In addition, individuals will also be given the opportunity to earn their 10-hr OSHA card, LEAN/Kaizen, and a Forklift Operator certificate.

 Foundation‐level Certified Logistics Associate (CLA)                                               27 hrs

  • Global supply chain logistics life cycle
  • The logistics environment and equipment
  • Safety principles and quality control principles
  • Work communication practices
  • Teamwork and good workplace behavior to solve problems
  • Relevant computer systems and applications to increase productivity. (Computer navigation, Word, Excel, exposure to SAP.

  Mid‐level Certified Logistics Technician (CLT)                                                          30 hrs

  • Receiving products
  • Stocking products
  • Processing product orders
  • Preparing packages for shipment and shipping products
  • Maintaining control of inventory
  • Handling hazardous materials in a safe manner
  • Evaluating transportation modes
  • Performing dispatch, routing and tracking operations
  • Understanding U.S. measurements and metric system conversions

OSHA 10-hour General Industry Standards                                                              10 hrs

Topics to be covered in the OSHA 10-hour general industry training course:

  • Introduction to OSHA
  • Walking and Working Surfaces
  • Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention and Protection
  • Electrical
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Hazzard Communication

  • The 5S' Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize & Sustain
  • Visual Control  
  • Into Practice

Forklift Operations & Safety                                                                                                             15 hours

  Objective(s): To instruct employees in forklift operation, maintenance and safety so they can be certified as operators. Course includes a review of OSHA regulations, safe operating guidelines, and hands-on practice and evaluation.
