Is the LEI Right for me?
The LEI (Learning Excellence Initiative) is for students who meet certain criteria. For example, to qualify for the LEI you must
- Enter Tri-County as a first-time postsecondary student (meaning you have not attended college anywhere after you graduated from high school).
- Plan to take day classes on the Pendleton campus (an online or hybrid course is okay, too).
- Have placement test scores that meet requirements for one of the three learning communities offered this fall.
- Plan to enter a major at TCTC for which the paired courses in one of the learning communities are required or recommended as preparatory by your advisor. See FAQs for paired courses for this academic year.
- Participate in a Smart Start session.
Unfortunately only about 250 students who qualify for the LEI will be able to participate in the fall of 2008. About 140 will be able to participate in the spring semester 2009. Because the program is new, it will take about five years to ramp up so that all entering first-time postsecondary students can benefit from the LEI experience. |
