Meet LEI Faculty and Staff

Katy GoforthGeneral: Hi! My name is Katy Goforth, and I will be your ENG 032 and COL 105 instructor. I live in Anderson, but I'm not from this area. Some of my hobbies are reading, roller-skating, and searching for 1950's antiques for my home. I'm also known around Tri-County for my extensive shoe collection. I love my shoes!

Music: I'm a diverse gal when it comes to my music. I will listen to anything once! My favorites are Fountains of Wayne, Willie Nelson, and all 1980's hair metal.

Movies: Edward Scissorhands, The Stepford Wives (the original), The Bad Seed

Television: Roseanne (I'm aware it is no longer on the air, and I love it just the same), CSI, and even though I'm deeply ashamed of this, America's Next Top Model

Books: Any true crime by Ann Rule, anything ever written by Flannery O'Connor, and The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan

Heroes: My mom because she is such a risk-taker, my dad because of his strong convictions, and my sister because of her strength.

Education: M.A., Professional Communications, Clemson University; B.A., Speech and Communications, Clemson University

Occupation: I'm an English instructor, a College Skills instructor, and the Coordinator of Freshman Seminar and Learning Communities. I wear a lot of different hats at the college, but it is because I love my job. There hasn't been a morning yet that I didn't want to get out of bed and be here.

Favorite Quote:
"Success isn't permanent, and failure isn't fatal." Mike Ditka

Message to LEI students: First, I'm so excited to get the LEI started and meet some of my students! Remember, this won't always be easy, but you will never be alone. The picture I have included in my profile is of me after receiving my graduate degree. I can still remember being so scared of what was to come, but I was also excited. I had many obstacles to face throughout my college career, and sometimes I still can't believe I made it! Remember, your education is the one thing that no one can ever take away from you. Now, get ready for a fun, learning-centered class. I can't wait to meet all of you.
