are not supported for use with WebCT.

Required Settings:
1. Enable Java
- Select Tools,
Internet Options
- Select the Advanced
tab
- Locate Microsoft
VM
- Make sure the
Java console enabled and Java logging enabled boxes are checked
- Click OK
- Restart your
computer if you checked the Java console enabled box
2. Set Browser Cache
- Select Tools
then choose Internet Options
- Select the General
tab
- Select Settings
from Temporary Internet Files
- Select the Automatically
radio button
- Click OK
3. Turn Off Anonymous
Logon
- Select Tools
then choose Internet Options
- Select the Security
tab
- Click the Custom
Level button
- Scroll down
to the User Authentication settings
- Under Logon
select the Automatic logon only in Intranet zone radio button.
- Click OK
4. Enable Cookies
IE 5.x
- Select Tools then choose
Internet Options
- Select the Security tab
- Click the Custom Level
button
- Scroll down to the Cookies
section
- Set Allow cookies that
are stored on your computer to Enable
- Set Allow per-session
cookies to Enable
- Click OK
IE 6.x
- Select Tools
then choose Internet Options
- Select the Privacy
tab
- Enable Cookies:
- If using a default
setting, move the slider to select any of the following privacy settings:
- Medium High
- Medium
- Low
- Accept all
cookies
- If using a custom
setting:
- Click the
Advanced button
- Select Override
automatic cookie handling
- Select Always
allow session cookies
- Click OK
to return to the Privacy Tab
- Click Apply
then OK
5. Disable Pop-Up Killers
These applications
work in the background while you browse the internet. When they detect a pop-up
window that may be an unwanted advertisement, they automatically close the window.
Unfortunately, they also inhibit WebCT from performing properly. If you are
unable to view Discussion postings, Quiz windows, and download links, then search
your hard drive for any software with "pop-up" in the name and disable
it.
Note: Norton Internet
Security 2003 has an automatic ad-blocking setting that must be disabled for
WebCT to perform properly. Please disable this function within Norton.
