CULINARY ARTS
With the opening of Tri-County Technical College’s Anderson Campus comes the addition of a new culinary arts lab and our new culinary arts program, the Atlas Food Systems and Services Culinary Arts Program. The lab will provide you with a program of study that will include more hours of training and a stronger experience through our Culinary Arts Training program. We offer the following areas of studies:
EVENING CULINARY STUDIES
The evening certificate program is designed for individuals who cannot attend our advanced day program but who still would like to gain culinary skills needed to enter the food service industry. This program is also a great opportunity for individuals who want to become more comfortable and more proficient in the kitchen. We will also offer a variety of culinary classes in the evening or on the weekend that will be just for fun!
CERTIFICATE IN CULINARY ARTS – Evening Program
Upon completion of the following courses you will receive a Certificate in Culinary Arts indicating that you’ve completed 254 hours of culinary arts training. See the schedule listed on this page for times and dates of classes.

BAKING CERTIFICATE
Become a proficient baker as you learn to create beautiful breads, pastries and desserts as well as a variety of other delicacies. From beginning to advanced cake decorating you will develop skills that will set your creations apart from others. Upon completion of these courses you will be prepared to work in a bakery, start your own or delight the hearts of your friends and family with your creations.

COOKING AROUND THE HOUSE
The following series of classes is designed for the cook in your house who’s looking to provide quality, nutritious meals for your family and friends. Learn a variety of techniques that will make the cooking in your home easier, more exciting and fun! $45 materials fee required for most classes.

SUGAR ART
Tri-County Technical College offers a variety of Sugar Art related classes. Our course offerings include:

FOOD SERVICE/DELI TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE
Food service technicians are employed in many different types of companies to provide
quality food service to customers. The technician serves as the direct point of contact for
customers placing a food order in a store/deli/restaurant environment. They are responsible
for taking the order, preparing the food, and serving the food. The customer may
be placing an individual order or maybe representing a company/business who needs
catering services. So the services required by the technician vary considerably depending
on the situation.
Significant Points for the Food Service Career Field:
- Strong verbal and listening skills are important
- It is estimated that 351,000 jobs will be added from 2006 – 2016 with largest growth
being in chefs, cooks, and food preparation workers who prepare meals-to-go, such
as those who work in the prepared foods sections of grocery or specialty food stores.
- Is one of the fastest growing industries in South Carolina.
Wages
South Carolina has one of the largest concentrations of Food service workers in the nation
with a mean hourly average of $8 per hour.
