Phlebotomy Technician

PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE

Hospitals, clinical facilities, laboratories, and physician offices employ phlebotomists who are trained in the process of collecting blood samples for quality laboratory testing. Many allied health professionals want to add this emerging technology to their list of competencies. This program meets guidelines to sit for one of the national examinations to become a certified phlebotomist. Classroom and lab experiences of 60 hours are linked to up to 120 hours clinical experience in local facilities. Clinical hours will vary and students must be able to complete all aspects of the program. A high school diploma or PRE is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

Student must complete:

  • Medical Terminology with Anatomy and Physiology
  • HealthCare Provider CPR
  • Phlebotomy course work, laboratory experience, and clinical assignments

Additional requirements:

  • SLED background check included in fee
  • Professional liability insurance included in fee
  • Name tag included in fee

Fees for Health Status requirements NOT included. Estimated fees are:

  • Health Status Documentation of recent PPD $10; Hepatitis B vaccine 3 x $33; MMR.
  • Drug screen $25 for certain clinical sites
  • Lab jacket and uniform. $30-$40
  • Text book and work book. $60

Phlebotomy Boot Camp

CLP or PBT certification boot camp. Intensive preparation for national certification. Mock exam included. Must have completed a formal program of study or have 1 year of experience. Book not included in fee. We offers a variety of Phlebotomy Technician courses.
