Pickens Hall Construction

Pickens Hall Updates as of August18, 2026

Flooring installation on the second floor is underway, along with painting throughout the building. Installation of wall graphics has also begun. The elevator installation is complete, and the building’s systems are now operational. Installation of the precast concrete treads for the monumental stair has begun. Upcoming work includes completing the exterior slab-on-grade and interior polished concrete finish work. Landscaping will begin once all concrete has been poured.

Pickens Hall Updates as of July 9, 2026

Pickens Hall continues to make steady progress toward completion. Exterior building signage has been installed, and exterior concrete footings are being constructed. Work on the emergency drive aisle will begin soon.

Inside the building, first-floor ceiling tiles are in place and second-floor lighting has been installed. Final finishes are ongoing on the first floor as the project moves closer to completion.

Pickens Hall updates as of June 4, 2026

Interior longboard ceiling installation has begun in the main lobby. First-floor restroom tile has been installed. First-floor lighting has been installed and is operational. Storefront systems have been installed in the Dean's Suite and Faculty Neighborhood.

During June, first-floor ceiling tile installation and cabinetry installation will begin. Work will also continue on the second floor with installation of the ceiling grid, electrical lighting and devices, as well as tile installation in the second-floor restrooms.

All ACM panels have now been installed on Pickens Hall and the building exterior has really begun to take shape. Planned occupancy for Pickens Hall is January 2027.

Pickens Hall updates of April 23, 2026

 

The building dry-in, along with conditioned air, has been completed. Installation of the north side ACM panels began on April 21. Drywall is nearing completion throughout the building, and both the prime coat and first coat of paint are underway. Mechanical final connections are in progress, and cable tray installation has begun, with the first data cable pulls now starting.

As we move forward, the following activities are scheduled:

  • Masonry work to begin
  • Completion of the sprinkler system throughout the building
  • Drywall installation to start on the second floor
