Academic Honors

Each term, the College recognizes students who excel in their academic studies. To be eligible, a student must meet all of the following requirements for the term for honors recognition based on the following honors criteria.

President’s List:

  • Classified as a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking student
  • Earned at least 12 credit hours in courses numbered 100 or above
  • Attained a Grade Point Average of 4.0
  • Obtained a grade of “A” or “B” in courses numbered 100 or below, if grades of A and B are part of the grading system for courses

Dean’s List:

  • Classified as a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking student
  • Earned at least 12 credit hours in courses numbered 100 or above
  • Attained a Grade Point Average of 3.50 - 3.99
  • Obtained a grade of “A” or “B” in courses numbered 100 or below, if grades of A and B are part of the grading system for courses

Academic Distinction

Academic Distinction recognizes students who attend part-time and meet the following criteria.

  • Enrolled in 6 to 11 credit hours for two consecutive terms
  • Earned at least 12 semester hours during the two consecutive terms, with a grade of A in each attempted course

Alpha Zeta Beta (AZB)

AZB is the local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, a national honor fraternity for community and junior college students. To be eligible for membership, students must meet the following criteria.

  • Enrolled in an associate degree program
  • Accumulated a minimum of 12 credit hours
  • Achieved and maintained a Grade Point Average of at least 3.50
