Web Design and Multimedia Training
Our Online Web Design Training Center prepares students for a variety of areas in the emerging occupation of Web Design. All courses are offered monthly online, and a new course starts each month, so you can begin anytime! Each course lasts approximate 6 weeks and you can complete a full certificate program in as little as 4-6 months. You can choose to take one course, or enroll in one of our career certificates. Each course is $95. The course price includes your textbook (which is in your online course). Students are required to purchase software for some programs at an additional cost. This program will prepare you to enter the field of Web Design. Our beginning certificate program focuses on the foundation of web design and creating web pages. The advanced certificate will introduce you to creating websites with advanced functions and graphics. Software is required for some of these courses. Course Descriptions (in alphabetical order by prefix):

KEN 505 - Introduction to Photoshop: If you want to work with graphics, Photoshop is the program you will most need to learn. This hands on, project-oriented course is filled with detailed step-by-step instructions you'll have no trouble following as you learn how to edit photos, create basic paintings, and prepare your images for printing. Discover how to improve photographs by removing flaws, correcting for poor exposure, or adding new elements. You’ll even learn how much fun it can be to paint again without the mess to clean up. And, best of all, no prior artistic ability is required to take this course. (Photoshop Software is required for this course, it is recommended that you have at least the latest version of the Photoshop software.)

KEN 589 - Intermediate Photoshop: Photoshop offers graphic artists, photographers, video artists, scrapbookers, and hobbyists fun and creative ways to alter photographs and prepare them for print or the Web. If you understand the basics of the Photoshop toolset, this course will help you explore new and more advanced techniques for creating images, editing photos, and combining existing images in amazing ways. The emphasis is on non-destructive editing—the features in Photoshop that let you easily re-edit and change projects long after the Undo command has expired. (Photoshop Software is required for this course, it is recommended that you have at least the latest version of the Photoshop software.)

KEN 590 - Introduction to Dreamweaver 8: Learn to harness the power of this industry-standard Web design program from a Silicon Alley veteran. Master the basics of document creation and how to insert and format text, images, hyperlinks, tables, multimedia files, and other types of Web page content. Explore different page design concepts—with an emphasis on avoiding common layout errors. (Dreamweaver 8 software is required for this course)

KEN 645 - Creating Web Graphics in Photoshop: Learn how to use your Photoshop skills to create and save graphics for the Web. You'll create these graphics for a Web site of your choice as you develop a Web page lesson-by-lesson, from idea to Internet. Master the creation of animated GIF files, buttons, rollovers, and remote rollovers--elements that make your Web pages come to life. You'll follow the development of one Web site throughout the course as you learn about the GIF and JPG formats, discover the inner details of color for the Web, learn how to make compact Web backgrounds, and slice graphics for faster screen display. (Photoshop Software is required for this course, it is recommended that you have the CS3 version of the Photoshop software.)

KEN 664 - Introduction to CSS and XHTML: Learn how to create state-of-the-art Web sites using modern CSS and XHTML techniques. Take your existing HTML skills to the next level and start building sites like the pros. If you want to survive and excel in the fast-paced world of Web publishing, you're going to need to keep up with ever-evolving standards. The new standard for Web developers is to use CSS and XHTML.

KEN 665 - Introduction to Flash 8: Learn how to create exciting interactive animations from a working Flash designer and author with more than a decade of experience in Flash development. Discover how to create animations, build online applications, manage photos, integrate video, and upload your very own Flash presentations to a Web site. (Flash 8 software is required for this course)

KON 501 - Creating Web Pages: Create and post your very own Web site on the Internet in this extensive, hands-on, six week workshop. First, you'll learn about the capabilities of the World Wide Web and the fundamentals of web design. Then, with your instructor's patient guidance, you'll plan the content, structure and layout of your Web site, create pages full of neatly formatted text, build links between the pages and to the outside world, and add color, backgrounds, graphics, tables, hot buttons, and animation. You'll also learn critical and timely information on securing the best possible location in search engine listings, and powerful no-cost or low-cost web marketing strategies.

KON 502 - Creating Web Pages II: Are you using HTML to its fullest potential? In this practical, project-oriented course, you'll discover how you can use tables to create fresh, innovative, and unconventional arrangements of text, colors and graphics. You'll become skilled at incorporating audio into your site, and you'll find out how frames can improve site navigation and turn otherwise drab pages into stunning works of art. Find out how to make your site more interactive through the use of forms, and learn how formatting your pages with Cascading Style Sheets can literally save you hours of time and effort.

KON 508 - Achieving Top Search Engine Positions: Learn how to achieve top search engine positioning in this highly-interactive, six-week course. Discover how search engines work and how important events have shaped the entire Search Engine Optimization (SEO) industry. Learn which search engines are used the most frequently, and which ones you must absolutely get your site listed in. Master important HTML tags and understand how to use them effectively and ethically. Explore exciting and free online tools that can help you choose the most popular keywords related to the topic of your Web site. Domain, folder, and file naming conventions are discussed along with content layout and its effect on search engine positions. The entire SEO cycle is covered in detail, from primary keyword selection through the post-submission analysis. By the end of this course, you will have the knowledge and the know-how to achieve top search engine positions!
