Regardless of the condition of our nation’s economy, there will always be a need for the transportation of goods, products, and other related services. Transportation services are critical to economic and social survival and will never subside.

Logistics is defined as the process of planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services and related information from their point of origin to point of consumption for the purpose of conforming to customer requirements. Through this course work you will be training for an exciting new career in the logistics work involved in the motor freight or trucking industry. Freight Agent is one of the fastest growing occupations in the nation – the goal of trucking companies is to deliver freight and you will be the contact needed to connect the truck to its next delivery.

What is a Freight Agent?
Freight Agents are Independent Contractors who REPRESENT a Freight Broker in a given area. Because Agents aren't Brokers and because they're home based, their start-up materials are minimal and typically consist of a computer, telephone, a fax machine, and writing software. An Agent's work is very similar to what a Broker does, but the Agent functions UNDER the authority of the Broker, leaving the Broker responsible for such issues as maintaining the required surety bond, insurances, paying carriers, and getting paid, etc. There is an old saying in the transportation industry that says, “if you got it a truck brought it” and if that is true then someone had to arrange the shipment. Freight agents play a vital part in moving freight across the American highways.

Upon successful completion of the Freight Agent Training Program, you will:
