PENDLETON, SC —Phil Anderson, owner and co-founder of Hytech Machining, is the recipient of the Tri-County Technical College (TCTC) Foundation’s 2026 Distinguished Alumni of the Year award.

The annual award recognizes a TCTC graduate who has made significant contributions to the College, the Alumni Association and the community.

Anderson graduated from TCTC in 1984 with an industrial electronics technology associate degree. He worked at Duke Energy’s Oconee Nuclear Station and Champion Tooling before co-founding Hytech Machining.

Based in Pendleton, Hytech Machining provides machining services using a variety of computer numerical control (CNC) machines and other advanced technology. The company operates four facilities at its Pendleton headquarters and produces parts for the automotive, energy and medical industries.

Hytech employs TCTC graduates and provides new hires with opportunities for training and certification.

“Phil has made a difference in people’s lives,” said Dr. Mandy Elmore, vice president of academic affairs and workforce development. “He knows that the way our community is successful is for people to have good careers with earnings that allow them to support their families. He believes there is no limit to what people can achieve if they set their mind to it.”

Anderson has remained actively involved with TCTC throughout his career. As a longtime advocate for the College’s CNC machining programs and a member of the program’s advisory board, he has helped ensure the program meets industry requirements while providing guidance and support to the College. Through Hytech Machining, he has also created career opportunities for people throughout the community.

"Everything I have achieved in my life is by the grace of God," Anderson said. “God has blessed me with my wife Katherine, my family, lifelong friends, employees and a good career. I like helping people succeed. Helping each other is part of God’s plan for us.”

“Phil has a lot of demands on his time, and we are fortunate that he devotes time to the College,” Dr. Elmore said. “He wants something for us and our students, not from us, and that is why he is alumni of the year.”

The award was presented Oct. 15 during the College’s Annual Report breakfast, which brings together community members and partners to celebrate TCTC’s yearly publication that highlights the College’s mission, achievements, strategic priorities and financial performance over the past year.
