Lottery Tuition Assistance for the spring 2008 term is $912 for eligible full-time students and $76 per credit hour for eligible part-time students taking six to eleven credit hours. If you're thinking about starting classes, now is the time to apply for your Lottery Tuition Assistance!
Remember . . . even if you know you won't qualify for Federal Financial Aid,
you can still qualify for Lottery Tuition Assistance. Lottery tuition
assistance is NOT based on financial "need," but you must
still apply for Federal Financial Aid.
Eligibility Information for First-Time Lottery Tuition Assistance Applicants
To be eligible, you must (at a minimum):
- Qualify for in-state tuition rates and be a legal South Carolina resident for a minimum of one year. (Tri-County's residency policy and procedures.)
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which you can do one of two ways:
1. Use the free paper application, which you may pick up at the College Information Center or the Financial Aid Office (both are in Miller Hall), or at the Tri-County Technical College Anderson Campus located on Michelin Boulevard. Use Tri-County's Federal school code: 004926. About 3-4 weeks after submitting your completed application to the Federal Processor, you should expect to receive by mail a Student Aid Report (SAR). The College's Financial Aid Office can then advise you about any necessary steps to complete the application process. All additional forms and processes must be complete before your eligibility can be determined for any of the federal or state programs, including the Lottery Tuition Assistance Program. You should allow at least 6 weeks to complete the process, from the time you submit your FAFSA.
2. Complete the FAFSA online - use Tri-County's Federal school code: 004926.
- Be admitted to the College in a curriculum certificate, diploma or associate degree program, and enroll in and maintain at least six credit hours each term
- Not be the recipient of a LIFE scholarship. (If you receive a LIFE scholarship, it will pay for your full tuition costs and provide an annual book allowance of $300.) It will not cover the technology fee.
Here are 2 things you can do NOW:
