ACT/Residual Testing (Nursing Only)
Who Must Take the
Test?
Prospective nursing students
in the ADN program.
When and Where
the Test is Given
Check with the Bookstore or the Assessment Center
Three and one-half hours will be required for the ACT/Residual Test. To practice the ACT, log onto
www.actstudent.org/testprep/index.html and click on students or books are available at the Assessment Center..

Bookstore for the cost and to register for the test.
Special Arrangements
for Students with Disabilities
If you have a documented hearing, learning, physical, psychological, and/or visual disability that will prevent you from taking the test under standard conditions, you may request special accommodations. Requests for special accommodations should be made directly to your college. For details, contact the Test Administrator (646-1396) at your institution or Carol Miller (646-1564).
What to Take With
You on the Test Day
On the day of the test,
you should bring with you:
• Picture ID (ex. driver’s license) and other ID
• Your social security number
• Several No. 2 (soft-lead) pencils with erasers
• Calculator
• Test ticket and receipt is required
• A composite score of 20 and above is required for the Nursing Program.
Purpose of the
Test
ACT/Residual Test scores provide the ADN program with a score to compare with the academic preparation and ability of students who apply for admission into the Nursing Program.
Students may not repeat Residual Testing until 60 days have passed since their previous testing.

The NET (Nurse
Entrance Test)
The Nurse Entrance Test
(NET) is designed, primarily, as a diagnostic instrument to assist nursing
programs evaluate the academic and social skills of new applicants to
their programs. Based upon the profile generated by this test, a program
can more objectively screen applicants for admission. The NET also provides
an academic/social profile of a class already admitted. In both profiles,
the educational program will be provided with valuable information helpful
in meeting individual student needs. A score of 58 percentile or above
is needed. A study guide is available in the College bookstore. Look
