Tri-County Technical College’s Assessment Center, located in Miller Hall, administers the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) for students entering the Associate Degree Nursing program. This test is required for students who select option 2 on the Associate Degree Nursing “Notice of Completion Form.” TEAS testing will be offered on a walk-in basis on Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at a cost of $35. When necessary, a student may elect to take the TEAS test twice during a three year period. The student is responsible for paying the testing fee on both occasions. Prior to taking the TEAS test, students must have completed the application process at Tri-County Technical College. Students wishing to take the TEAS test should check-in at the Assessment Center, located in Miller Hall, Room 103. A picture ID is required for TEAS testing. Acceptable forms of identification include the following:
At the Assessment Center, the student will be given a Check-in/Score Report slip to take to the Cashier’s Office, located in Ruby Hicks. After paying the $35 testing fee, the Cashier will give the student a receipt. After paying the required fee, the student will return to the Assessment Center (with the receipt) to start TEAS testing. Students need to allow 3.5 to 4.0 hours for TEAS testing. Students may not leave during TEAS testing unless extenuating circumstances arise. The TEAS test consists of subtests for Reading, Mathematics, Science and English. Calculators are not permitted. As a consideration when selecting a day for TEAS testing, keep in mind that the Assessment Center experiences heavy traffic two weeks before each semester begins. A student with a documented hearing, learning, physical, psychological, and/or visual disability that will prevent him/her from taking the test under standard conditions may request special accommodations. Requests for special accommodations should be made directly to Carol Miller, Coordinator of Disability Services at (864)646-1564.
