History and Growth
In the early 1960’s, South Carolina created a system of technical colleges to serve as "a tool for economic development" within the state. Tri-County, which serves Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties, has grown from about 300 students in 1962 to approximately 6,000 today, making it among the largest of the 16 colleges in the South Carolina Technical College System. More than one-half million people have turned to the College to reach their career goals, and the Tri-County area has benefited significantly as a result.

The College follows an "open door" admissions policy and offers comprehensive academic and support services to help all who enroll meet their educational goals and achieve academic success. More than 65 diploma, certificate, and associate degree programs are offered in industrial and engineering technology, business and human services, health education, and university transfer. In addition, more than 250 different seminars and courses are offered through continuing education, serving approximately 13,000 students annually.

The College is known nationally and internationally for its quality educational programs. As you will see while perusing this website, various programs are accredited by the appropriate accrediting agencies, while the College has been accredited since 1971 by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate degree. Educators from other states and other countries visit the campus from time to time to view our exemplary programs.

Covering more than 300,000 square feet, campus buildings house modern labs, classrooms, and equipment. Hayden Abney Fulp Hall, an 83,000-square-foot health/science laboratory building, opened in 1998 and houses some of the most modern science and health program labs in the area.

Like the founders of the College, we continue to believe that the greatest single resource South Carolina has is its people. We invite you to take a closer look at Tri-County Technical College. After you see the programs and services available to you, we believe you will want to let us help you prepare for a rewarding career and life.
