Seventy-One Tri-County Students Inducted
Into Alpha Zeta Beta Honor Society

CONTACT: SABRINA COKLEY, EXT. 2313

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 5/7/99
(By Lisa Garrett)

PENDLETON - Seventy-one Tri-County Technical College students were inducted into the Alpha Zeta Beta (AZB) honor society during a recent ceremony on campus.

Initiates into the Alpha Zeta Beta chapter must have completed at least 12 hours of college work leading toward an associate degree and have attained a grade point ratio of 3.5 or better. Initiates also must be judged of good moral character and possess demonstrated qualities of good citizenship and service.

Guest speaker Allen Meyer, who teaches Engineering Graphics Technology and General Engineering courses at Tri-County, told the group that he recognizes that being a good college student requires sacrifices from students, their families and friends. "You are making a dream come true," he said. He urged the inductees to "continue their studies for knowledge, not for grades. Reach for your dreams and make them come true."

Mr. Meyer retired from the United States Navy in 1991 after 30 years of service. He was commissioned in 1984 and rose to the rank of chief warrant officer four, directing all necessary nuclear plant conditions for the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise and was responsible for nuclear and reactor safety as the senior member of the Joint Test Group on four other ships. He was the project officer on construction of the nuclear submarine USS Albany.
