Tri-County Offers Professional Development Classes

PENDLETON --- Tri-County Technical College will offer the following professional development classes through its Continuing Education Division:

Communication
Are you a Good Communicator?, June 18, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., $79. The first session of this two-part program deals with aspects of voice, such as a tone, vocal quality, vocal variety and projection. You will learn to use your voice to convey your message and present a positive image for your company. The second session covers general diction skills and will give tips on how to be better understood when you speak. Corretta Grass, a professor of speech for 33 years, will lead the seminar.

Managing Your Boss, June 23, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., $95. This interactive seminar is for employees interested in improving communication. Participants will have the opportunity for self-assessment of personal communication strengths and weaknesses. Dr. Charlotte Burke and Dr. Darren Lawson, co-founders of Millennium Communication, Inc, will lead the seminar.

International Business
Faux Pas in International Business, June 17, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., $95. When people in international business deal with each other, faux pas, or blunders, are bound to occur. These misunderstandings can inhibit personal and professional growth. This seminar will provide ways to develop and to increase a sense of bilingualism. Participants will learn ways to learn another language, ways to integrate the different levels of communication in another language, and ways to increase creativity and flexibility in a competitive world. Jean Maurice Hernandez, a multicultural specialist who speaks five languages fluently, will conduct this program.

Interpersonal Skills
Communicating through Geometrics, June 16, 9 a.m. – noon, $55. Kathi Christy will lead this informative program as she helps participants to explore the concept of communicating through geometrics.

Quality and Productivity
Basic Statistical Process Control, June 22 – 24, 8 a.m. – noon, $175. Join Karen Shobe, an instructor with Tri-County Tech's Business and Industry Training department, for an interactive program dealing with the theories for and practicality of SPC in the workplace. Participants will learn about variable and attribute capability studies along with hands–on activities and exercises.

Workplace Legal Issues
Drugs in the Workplace: An Overview, June 23, 9 – 11:30 a.m., $19. Joe Feleppa, MSW, LISW, director of AnMed Wellspring in Williamston, will talk about the signs and symptoms of drug abuse in the workplace.
