PENDLETON --- Haley Sitton, of Pendleton, will join Tri-County Technical College's Foundation Office January 3 as its Director of Development.

Under the direction of Linda Elliott, the College's vice president for development, Mrs. Sitton will be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing programs to raise funds to accomplish the priorities of the College and to secure business, industry, and community support. She also will be writing proposals and identifying and contacting prospective donors.

This new position was created and funded by the Anderson, Oconee and Pickens county councils.

Mrs. Sitton joined Tri-County in 1976 as a program coordinator for the Continuing Education Division. As director of the Career Development Department of the Continuing Education Division, she worked as a program manager for the career development certificate programs. Under her direction, the College's Interior Design classes, led by interior designer Wanda Morgan, have repeatedly received first-place awards at the Southern Home and Garden Shows in Greenville and the Home Builders Association Shows in Anderson.

In 1998 she served a one-year term as president of the South Carolina Association for Higher Continuing Education (SCAHCE), the state-wide association which promotes continuing education and professional development for both two- and four-year colleges. In 1993, she received the organization's Outstanding Continuing Education Professional Award.

In 1988 she was selected to chair the regional committee for SCAHCE and the following year was elected to the governing board of SCAHCE to serve a two-year term as an at-large member of the organization. She served as the executive board secretary during 1994 - 95 and as membership chair.

She has served on the Academic and Support Services and Institutional Effectiveness Committees of the College and as a VIP liaison (1984 - 1996) for the Automated Manufacturing shows in Greenville. She also chaired the Academic and Support Services Committee for documenting Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) criteria for the College's reaffirmation in 1996.

Earlier this year, she graduated from Leadership Anderson and was elected to its Board of Regents. In 1997, she completed her certification exam given by the Learning Resources Network, designating her as a certified program planner.

She was honored in 1990 with the Presidential Award for Staff Excellence, the highest award given for staff at Tri-County.

She is a member of the Anderson Chamber of Commerce, is a former board member of the Pendleton Historic Foundation and has served as president of the Pendleton Junior Assembly.

Her professional affiliations include the S.C. Association of Continuing Higher Education, American Association of Women in Community Colleges and the Women in Higher Education Network. She is a member of and serves on the executive board of the South Carolina Technical Education Association and is president of Tri-County's chapter of the organization.

She holds an A. A. degree in liberal arts from Gulf Coast Junior College and graduated with honors, cum laude, from the University of West Florida. She currently is completing her master's degree at Clemson University. She and her husband, John, live in Sandy Springs. They have two children, Amy and Joe.
