PENDLETON --- Susan Dickerson, of Seneca, is the recipient of the 1999 Adjunct Faculty Presidential Award at Tri-County Technical College.
This award is given annually at the faculty/staff convocation to the adjunct faculty member who is recognized for excellence in teaching, who has consistently high student evaluations and who supports the philosophy and goals of the College.
Mrs. Dickerson has been an instructor in the Comprehensive Studies Math Department for the past four years. She has taught math classes for the Arts and Sciences Division and in area industries. She also teaches homebound students in Seneca and Walhalla.
"She is professional, she strives for perfection, and she puts the interest and goals of the student first," said President Don C. Garrison when presenting her with the award. "She goes beyond the normal routine to make sure that the students learn the subject she is teaching. Her greatest reward for teaching is received through seeing her students learn."
She is presently working on a project to incorporate active learning strategies throughout the Comprehensive Studies Division.
Before moving to the area, she taught mathematics in high schools and middle schools in Florida.
Ms. Dickerson holds a B. S. in mathematics education from Florida State University and has worked on post bachelor's degree studies in mathematics.
