Wayne Link Honored with Retirement Reception

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 12/17/99

PENDLETON --- Wayne Link, who has been a member of Tri-County Technical College's Continuing Education Division for the past 25 years, will retire December 31 as program director for enterprise development.

Faculty, staff, family, friends and retirees gathered at a reception recently to bid farewell and to wish her well. After receiving a plaque of appreciation for her years of service and dedication, Mrs. Link said, "My years at Tri-County have been a fruitful and adventurous time. There are good, close feelings here, and I treasure all of the memories I have. You have a special place and always will. I thank each of you for being a part of my life."

"For 25 years Wayne served in numerous capacities in the Continuing Education Division, contributing services to programs both on and off campus, said Neil Lark, dean of the Continuing Education Division. "Her absence will be sorely missed because of the dedicated manner in which she coordinated these continuing education programs for the entire community. We all wish her well in this much deserved retirement."

Mrs. Link began working at Tri-County in 1974 as clerk/stenographer for Continuing Education, and for the past 22 years, she has been a program director for the Division.

While working at Tri-County, Mrs. Link established the equestrian program in Continuing Education. She has served a chairman of the Education Committee of the South Carolina Horsemen's Council, is a founding officer of the Pendleton Area Saddle Club and has been a 4-H leader in Anderson County.

At the College, she has chaired the Personnel Affairs Committee and has been a member of the Institutional Effectiveness Committee.

She is a certified travel counselor and for a number of the years in the 1980's, managed the Continuing Education Division's travel programs services. Earlier this year she became one of the first graduates of Leadership Pendleton, a program sponsored jointly by the town of Pendleton and the Palmetto Leadership Program of the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service. Last year she completed the professional development program through Learning Resources Network, designating her as a certified program planner.

She is a volunteer with trail stewardship projects of the U.S. Forest Service, SCPRT and the Clemson University Experimental Forest. After being a charter member of the S.C. Heritage Corridor Regional Board since 1997, she presently is chair of the Heritage Corridor - Anderson County.

She and her husband, Bud, live in Pendleton, and have three adult children, Pam Rowland, Page Carroll and Mike Link.
