PENDLETON
--- Fred Shepherd and Ben Wilson, both of Walhalla, were the winners
among the 62 players in Tri-County Technical College's Nineteenth Annual
Alumni Association Golf Tournament held April 16.
A low score of 66 won the team the first-place prize in the golf tournament
held at Falcon’s Lair in Walhalla.
Jackie Snow and Greg Pearson took second place, and Steve Peppers and
James Peppers won third place.
The
tournament netted $7,011, and proceeds will fund cash awards for the
College's Presidential Medallion recipients and will make book/supply
awards available for selected students who are the children or spouses
of a Tri-County graduate.
The Towne House Restaurant in Anderson sponsored this year's tournament.
Propex Fabrics of Seneca was the silver sponsor of the tournament.
In
past years, proceeds from tournaments have enabled the Alumni Association
to endow two scholarships through the College's Foundation, to name
a room in the College’s Health/Science Building and to make professional
development opportunities available to faculty and staff. The first
scholarship was endowed in 1995, and since 1990, the Alumni Association
has contributed more than $50,000 to the College’s Foundation.
