Tri-County Will Observe Constitution Day September 21 With Presentations by Two Arts and Sciences InstructorsCONTACT: BOB PETER, 646-1438 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 9/13/2005 PENDLETON --- Tri-County Technical College will observe Constitution Day September 21 with presentations by two Arts and Sciences instructors. Bob Peter and Dr. Chad Gregory will deliver presentations beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the Marshall J. Parker Auditorium located in Oconee Hall. The event is free and open to the public. Constitution Day is officially September 17, the anniversary of the ratification of the Constitution. The Federal government requires that all schools receiving federal funding from the U.S. Department of Education formally recognize Constitution Day. Peter's discussion will focus on the Constitutional Convention held in Philadelphia in 1787, its delegates and how they resolved their divisions, such as slavery and voter qualifications. Dr. Gregory will address the basic principles that came out of the Constitution, such as the Federalist Papers, a series of articles written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay to advocate the state ratification of the new Constitution. For more information, contact Bob Peter at 646-1438.
