Faye Allen Receives Tri-County's Staff Excellence AwardFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 8/16/2001 PENDLETON --- Tri-County Technical College's director of fiscal affairs was honored Thursday (August 16) with the highest award given for staff excellence at the College. Faye Allen, of Williamston, received the Presidential Medallion for Staff Excellence at the annual faculty/staff breakfast. The medallion goes to a person who has demonstrated over and over a strong belief in the purpose and mission of the College. Mrs. Allen joined Tri-County's Business Office 13 years ago, and since 1991, she also has worked as an adjunct instructor for the College's evening accounting classes. "She always provides quality service in her job as director of fiscal affairs," said President Don C. Garrison. "The respect that others have for her is demonstrated by the leadership roles in which she is placed. Faye and her staff go above and beyond the call of duty to make all interactions with the Business Office as seamless and efficient as possible. Faye's 'can-do' attitude rubs off on everyone, and her reputation with other business officers across the state is exemplary," he said. Last year, she was among the 13 financial officers who successfully completed a 75-hour certification program through the Government and Finance Officers Association of South Carolina. She was designated a Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) at the association's annual meeting. She is one of four CGFOs in the state's technical college system, and currently there are 106 CGFOs in the state. Earlier this year she was the College's nominee for outstanding support staff and represented the College at the South Carolina Technical Education Association (SCTEA) meeting. She is former state treasurer for the SCTEA and is member of the S.C. Association of Government Purchasing Officers. Recently she was asked to serve on the reaffirmation committee for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accreditation Mrs. Allen holds an associate degree in Business from Tri-County (1985) and a bachelor's degree in Accounting (1987) and a master's in industrial education (1991), both from Clemson University. She and her husband, Harold, live in Williamston. |
