Three Community Leaders Join Tri-County's Foundation BoardCONTACT: LINDA ELLIOTT, EXT. 2145 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 6/30/2000 PENDLETON --- Three community leaders have been elected to serve on Tri-County Technical College's Foundation Board. Joining the Board's current members will be Dr. Benson Bagwell, of Clemson; Julie Barton Collins, of Anderson; and Helen P. Gunter, of the Clemson Downs Retirement Center. Members of the Foundation Board raise money to supplement appropriations thereby helping the College to meet the educational needs of the citizens of the tri-county area. Dr. Bagwell has practiced dentistry in Clemson since 1974. He earned a B.S. in pre-dentistry from Clemson University in 1966 and received his D.M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1974. He is an active member of the Clemson Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the board of directors for Clemson Bank and Trust and is a member of the Daniel High School Academic Foundation. He and his wife, Mary Ann, reside in Clemson with their two children. Mrs. Collins is a graduate of Salem College and the University of Virginia. She was a teacher for eight years, with her most recent teaching position being at Anderson County School District 5. She has been a full-time mother since her daughter was born 15 years ago. Ms. Collins' husband, Robert, owns a landscape company. They reside in Anderson. Ms. Gunter is a resident at Clemson Downs Retirement Center, where she has been a stockholder since 1979. Her past work experience includes serving as secretary to the vice president at Stieff Silver and acting as secretary and head compensation clerk for the claims manager at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Baltimore, Maryland. She established and served as business manager for the Billings Symphony Orchestra in Billings, Montana, and she is a former business manager for the Corpus Christi Symphony in Corpus Christi, Texas. She is a former board member of the Christian Womens Club in Clemson. |
