Tri-County to Offer Free Training Seminars September 20 - 22FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 9/8/2005 PENDLETON --- Process improvement initiatives, sharpening supervisory skills and enhancing the skills of company trainers are among the topics for seminars created for business and industry and offered free of charge by Tri-County Technical College during S.C. Industry Appreciation Week (September 20 - 22) "To show our appreciation for our business and industry partners, the World Class Training Center will present these informative seminars at no cost," said John Benson, director of the World Class Training Center. "It's our way of saying thank you to industry for locating here and providing employment for the citizens of Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties," he added. In addition, those attending the complimentary courses will have an opportunity to observe both PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and Plastic Injection Molding Processor Training to see if it could benefit their organizations. The World Class Training Center has partnered with Industrial Informatics, Inc. and the Paulson School of Molding to offer fee-based, comprehensive, hands-on training. Contact Catherine Vinson at (864) 646-1720 for more information or registration. Complimentary seminars will be taught by the experienced industrial trainers of the World Class Training Center staff and expert adjunct instructors with extensive backgrounds in industry. To assist companies in implementing process improvement initiatives, Six Sigma for Administrative Professionals will be offered on Tuesday, September 20, from 9 - 10:30 a.m., the Basics of Lean Manufacturing will be offered from 1 - 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, and The People Side of Process Improvement (a Dale Carnegie course) will be held Thursday, September 22, from 10:30 a.m. - noon. To help companies build strong supervisory skills that establish trust and strengthen collaboration, the College is offering Principles and Qualities of Genuine Leadership September 20 from 9 - 11 a.m. and Coaching: Bringing Out the Best in Others from 1 - 4 p.m. on September 22. New guidelines established by the Department of Commerce for Enterprise Zone retraining incentives require company in-house trainers to complete a Train-the-Trainer course, said Benson. "We are offering this full day of training free of charge -- the same course that will be offered later for a fee," he said. “In past years, we've received positive comments about the seminars which deal with timely topics that help individuals to enhance their personal skills and help companies to meet their business objectives. By working with industry, we learn what their challenges are, and we offer seminars to coincide with their requests and needs,” added Benson. He urges industry representatives to register early for the seminars.
