PENDLETON --- Criminal Justice instructor Johnson Link will add department
head to his duties at Tri-County Technical College this semester.
He
replaces Tim Busha, who left the College to accept a job as Chief Deputy
for Anderson County Sheriff David Crenshaw.
Tri-County's Criminal Justice program acquaints students with law
enforcement, the courts and corrections, and how justice is administered
fairly. Students also learn about social service and educational agencies
and how they interact with and affect the criminal justice system.
In the last four years, enrollment in the program has nearly doubled
(from 97 students in 2000 to 181 in 2004).
"I appreciate the confidence shown to me by the administration," said
Link. "I look forward to this opportunity to influence the direction
of the Criminal Justice Technology department during this time of remarkable
growth and the associated challenges."
Link joined Tri-County in 2002 to begin a second career after retiring
from 25 years in law enforcement. He served as Chief of Police for
the City of Clemson for 17 years. Just before his retirement, he received
the Billy Wilkins Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement from the
13th Circuit Solicitors Office.
The Clemson native holds a B. S. in Sociology from Lander University.
He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police,
the S. C. Police Chief Association and the S.C. Law Enforcement Officers
Association.
He and his wife, Gennie, have three children and reside in Clemson.
