Dr. Lynn Lewis Named Chair of Health Education DivisionCONTACT: DR. LYNN LEWIS, EXT. 1437 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 9/12/2002 PENDLETON --- Dr. Lynn Lewis, of Easley, has been named chair of the Health Education Division at Tri-County Technical College. She replaces Audra McPeak, who retires this month. The Health Education Division is comprised of the following departments: associate degree Nursing, Early Childhood Development, Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, Medical Laboratory Technology, Respiratory Care and Surgical Technology. Dr. Lewis was a Tri-County student in the second Medical Assisting program back in the 1970's. Since then she has earned a B.S.N. degree from Clemson University, a master's in Health Sciences from the Medical University of South Carolina and a doctorate in Vocational and Technical Education from Clemson University last year. For the past 10 years, she has been with the Parke-Davis and UCB Pharmaceutical Companies. Her most recent position was senior clinical research scientist. Other positions held include senior medical and scientific affairs liaison and women's healthcare territory manager. Prior to that, she was on the nursing faculty at Clemson University as director of Continuing Education. She also has been on the staff of Baptist Medical Center, Easley (now Palmetto Health Baptist Easley) as its in-service educator and director of Staff Development and Public Relations. She began her career in 1979 as a staff nurse at that hospital. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi at Clemson University and was charter president of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing. Other memberships include the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Carolinas Society for Training and Development and Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. Her most recent publication, "Lipid Treatment Assessment in Women: Primary Care Practice Implications for Obstetricians and Gynecologists," appeared in the May 2002 issue of the Journal of Women's Health and Gender-Based Medicine. Dr. Lewis is a lifelong member of Easley Presbyterian Church, where she is a member of the choir. She has two adult children and lives in Easley. |
