Robbye Mauldin Inducted into Order of the Trilon at Her RetirementCONTACT: LISA GARRETT, 646-1506 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 3/3/2004 PENDLETON --- Tri-County Technical College's Executive Vice President Robbye Mauldin added another well-deserved and unexpected recognition to her list of awards at a reception just days before her February 27 retirement from the College. Dr. Mendel Stewart, chairman of the Tri-County Technical College Commission, presented her with the Order of the Trilon, which recognizes community and state leaders who have contributed to the development of the College and the Technical College System. A veteran educator and administrator, Mrs. Mauldin joined Tri-County in 1972 as an instructor in the Secretarial Science (now Office Systems Technology) department and became head of the department the following year. She was named chair of the Comprehensive Studies Division in 1980 and added chairmanship of the Business and Human Services Division to her responsibilities in 1983. She was named executive vice president in 1986. "Thank you so much. I am deeply honored. There are so many folks here, and each person is special to me in some way," Mrs. Mauldin said to the crowd of faculty, staff and retirees who gathered to congratulate her and her husband, Tom. "My years in education have been rewarding. I've had the opportunity to work with hundreds of students, faculty and staff. Thank you for all you mean to me and to Tri-County. I'll always be a strong advocate for the College. Tom and I will enjoy retirement and continue to be involved with our family, friends and the community." "Robbye has been a tremendous help to me in the first several months of my tenure," said Dr. Ronnie L. Booth, president of Tri-County. "I really appreciate her can-do attitude and unflagging support. She has obviously been committed to her work and very passionate about her role in helping others achieve their potential. Many former students owe much to Mrs. Mauldin, as does the College." "Robbye Mauldin is an academic administrator whose name will always be inextricably associated with great happenings at Tri-County Technical College," said Linda Elliott, vice president for development at the College. "She has led the College in putting into place systems for planning, committee organizations, student assessment, advising and other major initiatives. She has worked with the Foundation to establish a Faculty/Staff/Student Recognition fund. She is a tower of strength who kept the College running. In her quiet, unassuming way, year after year, she kept the president, other vice presidents, the deans, division and department heads, and yes, students on target." Mrs. Mauldin's accomplishments over the years include the expansion of access and equity efforts to increase minority students, faculty and staff representation; the expansion of the College's academic and administrative computer services; the development and implementation of an office skills computer learning center at the Anderson Mall; and planning and implementing a strategic planning process. She was honored for her outstanding leadership, management and administrative skills when she was named Administrator of the Year among the state's 16 technical colleges at the South Carolina Technical Education Association (SCTEA) conference in 2001. Mrs. Mauldin is the 1975 recipient of the Presidential Medallion for Staff Excellence. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Education from the University of Georgia and her master's degree in Guidance from Clemson University. She and her husband are members of the Clemson United Methodist Church. The Mauldins live in Clemson. | ||
