Michael Thacker Named Textile Student of the Year

PENDLETON --- Michael D. Thacker, of Anderson, has been named the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance Textile Council Student of the Year for the Textile Management Technology Department at Tri-County Technical College.

He received a plaque, along with a $200 award, at the College's 30th Annual Textile Management Technology Scholarship Banquet held Tuesday evening.

Thacker spent 10 years of active duty in the Air Force prior to entering Tri-County. He is a member of Covenant Baptist Church of Anderson. He and his wife, Denise, have two children.

The Student of the Year Award recognizes a student who excels academically, demonstrates good citizenship and is committed to keeping textiles the number-one industry in South Carolina.
