CONTACT: PRUITT MARTIN, 261-8600

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 6/17/2004
(By Lisa Garrett)

PENDLETON --- Anderson native and banking executive Pruitt Martin has been appointed to the Tri-County Technical College Commission, the governing board of the College.

Upon the recommendation of the Anderson County Legislative Delegation, Governor Mark Sanford appointed Mr. Martin to the Board effective June 7. His appointment is through April 2, 2006. He takes the seat occupied by Dr. Robert B. Claytor, who resigned earlier this year to move to Virginia.

Mr. Martin has 25 years of banking experience and is the Regional Executive for Anderson and Oconee counties/Senior Vice President for The Palmetto Bank.

Mr. Martin says serving on Tri-County's Commission is "a great opportunity to give back to the community. I am convinced that a skilled workforce is mandatory for our continued growth and prosperity. I have long admired Tri-County Technical College's contribution to this effort. Our path to progress is educating our workforce and training them with the latest technology. Tri-County is a great tool to do just that."

He holds a B. S. in Banking and Finance from the University of South Carolina and is a graduate of the School of Retail Bank Management at the University of Virginia.

He serves on the board of directors for the Anderson Area YMCA and is a member of the Anderson Rotary Club. He is the former chairman of the Anderson Area YMCA, former president of the Anderson Country Club and past chairman of the Young Bankers Division of the South Carolina Bankers Association. He also served on the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Mr. Martin and his wife, Cindy, live in Anderson and have one daughter, Mary Frances.
