CONTACT: SANDRA STRICKLAND, 224-0453

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 9/14/2001
(By Lisa Garrett)

ANDERSON -- Sandra Strickland, of Anderson, has been named director of Tri-County Technical College's Business Training Center, an Anderson Mall classroom facility offering occupational non-credit courses and certificates in areas of computer applications, small business management, criminal justice, photography and office-related occupations.

In addition, these programs and courses are offered on the main campus and on location in area businesses and industries. "The Center's primary goal is to offer relevant, cutting-edge courses in a convenient and flexible format to meet customer needs," said Strickland, who since 1992 served as the College's marketing director. She holds a B.A. in journalism from the University of South Carolina and an M.Ed. from Clemson University.

The College offers the latest in computer software taught by experts in
the field, including new classes in web design, a webmaster certificate and an E-commerce certificate. "We want to do more for small business owners, as well," added Strickland. "Our classes cater to anyone's individual needs – classes are conveniently offered online, or in a self-paced format, and during day and evening hours," she added.

Earlier this year, the classroom facility was expanded and renovated to allow many additional educational and training opportunities to serve the tri-county community.

The Mall site, which previously held two computer labs and a classroom, has been expanded and completely refurbished. The off-campus site now offers classes in three computer labs, a large classroom, and a small classroom/seminar room. It is the central location of the College's Business Training Center.

"This expanded facility allows the College to offer additional continuing education programs to better meet the needs of business and industry, health care personnel and residents who are interested in programs of special interest," said Strickland.

When Tri-County's Anderson Mall classroom facility opened its doors in 1985, it was the first in the state's Technical College System. Its convenience and accessibility made it an immediate success.
