Three Faculty/Staff Members to Represent Tri-County
Technical College at SCTEA Competition

PENDLETON --- Three faculty/staff members have been selected as Tri-County Technical College's nominees for the South Carolina Technical Education Association's (SCTEA) outstanding educators of the year.

Executive Vice President Roslyn J. Mauldin, of Clemson, is the College's outstanding administrator; Jacquelyn (Jackie) Blakley of Anderson, Business Technology department head, is the outstanding instructor; and Faye Allen, of Williamston, director of fiscal affairs, is the outstanding support staff.

They have been nominated by fellow SCTEA members and will be recognized at the SCTEA conference in the spring of 2001.

A veteran educator and administrator, Mrs. Mauldin joined Tri-County in 1972 as an instructor in the secretarial science (now Office Systems Technology) department and became head of the department the following year. She was named chair of the Comprehensive Studies Division in 1980 and added chairmanship of the Business and Human Services Division to her responsibilities in 1983. She was named executive vice president in 1986.

She is the 1975 recipient of the Presidential Medallion for Staff Excellence. She receive her bachelor's degree in business education from the University of Georgia and her master's degree in guidance from Clemson University.

She is a member of the Clemson United Methodist Church. She and her husband, Tom, live in Clemson.

Mrs. Blakley has led Tri-County's Business Technology department for two years. She joined Cryovac in 1992 as a team resource leader and later worked as an accounting analyst for the company.

She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Georgia and a master's in business administration from Clemson University.

She is a member of the South Carolina Business Education Association, the American Association of Women in Community Colleges and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She and her husband, Milton, have two children.

Mrs. Allen joined Tri-County's Business Office 12 years ago, and since 1991, she also has worked as an adjunct instructor for the College's evening accounting classes.

She holds an associate degree in Business from Tri-County (1985), and a bachelor's degree in Accounting (1987) and a master's in industrial education (1991), both from Clemson University. Earlier this year, she was among the 13 financial officers who successfully completed a 75-hour certification program through the Government and Finance Officers Association of South Carolina. Last month she was designated a Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) at the association's annual meeting. She will be one of four CGFOs in the state's technical college system, and currently there are 106 CGFOs in the state.

She is former state treasurer for the SCTEA and is member of the SC Association of Government Purchasing Officers. Recently she was asked to serve on reaffirmation committee for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accreditation

She and her husband, Harold, live in Williamston.
