Alliance, to Speak at Tri-County's Annual Textile Banquet

PENDLETON - E. Smyth McKissick, III, president of the S.C. Manufacturers Alliance, will be the keynote speaker at Tri-County Technical College's Annual Textile Management Technology Scholarship Awards Banquet set for Monday, October 8.
Mr. McKissick, who also is president of Alice Manufacturing Company, Inc. in Easley, will address the audience of textile executives and students during the College's 29th annual banquet.
Approximately 28 Textile Management Technology freshmen will receive scholarships to cover books and tuition. These scholarships are sponsored by the J. E. Sirrine Textile Foundation. In addition, many local textile firms in Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties also sponsor more than 30 students in the program. These textile firms include Alice Manufacturing Company, Avondale Mills, Blair Mills, Glen Raven, Hexcel Schwebel, JPS Glass, Kent Manufacturing, LaFrance Industries, Orian Rugs, Safety Components Fabric Technologies and the J.E. Sirrine Textile Foundation.
Since 1988 Mr. McKissick has led Alice Manufacturing Company's four plants in Easley. He succeeded his father, Ellison S. McKissick, Jr., and is the fourth generation of his family to head the textile manufacturing company, which is Pickens County's largest employer. Previously he served as executive vice president and treasurer.
Mr. McKissick holds a bachelor of science in Administrative Management from Clemson University and a master's in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina.
He serves as a member of the board of trustees for Clemson University, the University of South Carolina Business Partnership Foundation, the J. E. Sirrine Textile Foundation and the Institute of Textile Technology.
He also is a member of the board of directors of the American Textile Manufacturers Institute and Christ Church Episcopal School.
He and his wife, Martha Allyson Wood McKissick, have a son and two daughters and live in Greenville.
