Tri-County Tuition Increases for Fall Semester

CONTACT: WAYNE FOGLE, EXT. 2501

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 3/21/2000

PENDLETON --- Tri-County Technical College's governing board approved Monday night a $50 per semester tuition increase for full-time students effective this fall.

The fall tuition will be $600 per semester for full time students residing in Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties. There will be a $4 per credit hour increase for part-time students, resulting in a cost of $50 per credit hour.

Growth and the increased cost for programs at the College are two major factors in the tuition increase.

"We always avoid raising tuition until there's no alternative," said President Don C. Garrison. "The tuition increase is necessary to maintain the current level of excellence in educational programs and services by providing an outstanding faculty and staff and appropriate supplies and equipment."

"Even after these adjustments, Tri-County's tuition is still the lowest in the
College's service area and lower than the tuition at the majority of the other technical colleges in the state," said Dr. Garrison.

"We urge students to apply for financial aid," he said. "We have one of the strongest financial aid programs around, and we ask students to meet with financial aid counselors as soon as possible to determine if they qualify for scholarships, federal grants or other forms of assistance."

"It has always been and always will be our policy to keep quality high and cost to students as low as possible," he added.
