Tri-County Students Win Five Awards at State Welding Competition

PENDLETON --- Tri-County Technical College's Welding students recently won five awards in the State Technical Colleges' Annual Welding Competition.

First- and second-year welding students from the state's technical colleges participated in the competition hosted by Tri-County. Contestants competed in welding skills projects and were judged by inspectors and supervisors from across the state.

Evan Dozier, of Clemson, won second place in GTAW/GMAW carbon and aluminum, 3F and 4F, category.

Billy O'Bryant, of Pickens, won third place in the 3F 4F SMAW carbon category.

Bob Ziegler of Seneca, won third place in the SMAW Butt Joint – 3G/4G – carbon steel category.

Cecil Stewart, of Sunset, won third place in carbon pipe SMAW 6G category.

Brad Mickler, of Pickens, won second place in the stainless steel pipe GTAW 6G category.
