Dr.
Booth joined the College as its third president in July, 2003. He
came to Tri-County from Gainesville College in Gainesville, Georgia,
where he served as vice president for external programs.
Dr. Booth has broad-based
experience in all key areas of college administration. He is well
known as a man with outstanding administrative capabilities and
strong professional and personal integrity. His dedication to doing
things right and to doing the right things are what drive all his
actions and decisions.
Dr. Booth says he
was initially attracted to Tri-County because of its solid reputation
in the community and his belief that the College is poised to accomplish
even greater things in the future. His love for the Upstate and
the natural beauty of the area didn’t hurt either.
A native of Aiken,
South Carolina, Dr. Booth previously held positions at Aiken Technical
College as director of financial aid and dean of students. He also
served as assistant dean of the School of Education for External
Programs, associate professor of Education, vice president for Student
Affairs and Continuing Education, and vice president of Administrative
Services at Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia.
At Gordon-Conwell
Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, he served
as director of Admissions and Enrollment Management. He also has
held various staff positions in financial aid at the University
of South Carolina, Clemson University, and Columbia International
University in South Carolina.
Dr. Booth holds a
Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, a master’s
in Education in Student Personnel Services, and a Ph.D. in Higher
Education Leadership and Policies from the University of South Carolina.
He also holds a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Gordon-Conwell
Theological Seminary.
He now serves on
the Anderson County Economic Development Board; the Anderson Chamber
of Commerce Board of Directors; the Economic Development Board of
Pickens County; the Pendleton Workforce Investment Board; the Anderson
County Development Partnership Board; the Anderson/Clemson Alliance
Board; the Senior Solutions Board; the Tri-County Young Life Committee;
the Salvation Army of Anderson County Board, and the Upstate Alliance
Board. He is also a member of the Anderson Rotary Club.
He is married to
Sara Booth and they have two daughters, Ashley and Erin. They make
their home in Liberty, SC. |
