Linda Jameison Receives SCCPA’s Joseph O. Nixon Award
For Chief Student Affairs Officer
PENDLETON -- Linda Jameison, vice president for student support and engagement at Tri-County Technical College, received the Joseph O. Nixon Award for Chief Student Affairs Officer. She was honored February 17 by the South Carolina College Personnel Association (SCCPA) for her contributions to the field of student affairs.
Jameison is the only two-year college student affairs professional to be honored by SCCPA this year.
“Under Linda’s leadership, Tri-County has added new programming and expanded our services to support student learning,” said TCTC President Dr. Galen DeHay. “She’s played a critical role in advancing creating high quality experiences that our students and community deserve.”
“Since joining Tri-County’s leadership in 2015, Linda and her team have always put students first with a strategic plan for student success, retention and engagement. Her dedication to student success is evident in everything she does and in her leadership in student affairs organizations like SCCPA,” said Al Young, chair of the TCTC Commission. “The College is truly fortunate to have professionals like Linda and her staff who are genuinely committed to making a difference in students’ lives and finding ways to help them have a transformative student experience.”
“As a leader and educator on her campus and in our profession, Linda creates an environment that allows others to be successful,” said Dr. Tony Cawthon, alumni distinguished professor and director of graduate studies, student affairs and higher education at Clemson University, who nominated Jameison for the award. “She demands excellence in those she works with but she also provides them with support and resources to be successful. She takes a genuine interest in the personal and professional lives of others, particularly her staff and students. She continually devotes time and energy to ensure their professional success. Linda is a role model for many young professionals and seeks them out to encourage them to find ways to be involved in our profession. She is highly respected, competent and one whose opinions are valued.”
Jameison has been an active leader in SCCPA and is a committed member in the Southern Association for College Student Affairs officers (SACSA). In 2017 she received the SCCPA’s Clarice W. Johnson award for her contributions to the field of student affairs.
Jameison, who resides in Greenville, SC, holds a bachelor’s degree in clothing studies from Syracuse University and a master’s degree in education counseling from Clemson University. She also is a Certified Global Career Development Facilitator.
She is a past president of the SC College Personnel Association. Other professional affiliations include the American College Personnel Association, Southern Association for College Student Affairs and the National Association of College and Employers.
