PENDLETON --- The Tri-County Technical College Chorus and Jazz Band will perform new and unheard versions of popular songs during the annual Spring Concert set for Friday, April 19.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Marshall Parker Auditorium on the Pendleton Campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
Under the direction of music instructor Julia Miller, the concert will feature an eclectic group of songs that the audience will recognize, including the hymn “How Can I Keep from Singing,” song arrangements of popular poems from the romantic and modern eras and a version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with an accompaniment on ukulele by the jazz band’s pianist Cory Dodgens.
“We have new and returning faces in our chorus, who bring their own tastes and styles,” said Miller, “and each year the sound is different. It’s always a fun surprise to hear the different styles blend.”
Miller added that although the concert is free, donations to the College’s Music Scholarship Fund are welcome. The goal is to raise money for an endowed scholarship that will benefit students who want to enroll in the chorus class but cannot afford it.
