PENDLETON --- The Tri-County Technical College Chorus and Jazz Band will showcase student talent through group and solo performances at an annual fall concert set for Friday, November 30.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Marshall Parker Auditorium on the Pendleton Campus.  The concert is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature holiday favorites, as well as pop music selections, such as “Brave” by Sara Bareilles and songs from the Broadway musicals “Ragtime” and “Side Show,” said Julia Miller, music appreciation instructor and director of choir and band activities.

“We will showcase our strong student talent through our choral pieces and especially in our solos,” said Miller.  “It’s remarkable to hear what they can do in groups and even more exciting to hear them as soloists,” she said.

There also will be saxophone, trombone, guitar and drum solos by the jazz band members, she added.  Cory Dodgens is the accompanist/pianist for the jazz band.

“Guests will walk away from this evening surprised by the level of musical and artistic talent here at Tri-County,” said Miller.

She added that although the concert is free, donations to the College’s Music Scholarship Fund are welcome. The goal is to raise money for an endowed scholarship that will benefit students who want to enroll in the chorus or jazz band but cannot afford it.
