Tri-County Technical College Honored for Excellence in Financial Reporting
PENDLETON -- For the 21st consecutive year, Tri-County Technical College has been honored with the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
The College’s fiscal affairs team received notification that its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020, qualifies for Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program. This represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report contains information on the College’s assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenditures in conformity with the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB). The GASB establishes accounting and reporting standards for governments to provide accurate, consistent, and transparent financial information. The goal of the program is not to assess the financial health of participating governments, but rather to ensure that users of their financial statements have the information they need to do so themselves.
The College’s report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
“We never take this award/achievement for granted. It takes daily focus on the work being done, teamwork, and an enormous amount of technical competency,” said Cara Hamilton, vice president of business affairs at TCTC.
