Classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction consists of:
Laws relating to either interstate and/or intrastate commercial motor vehicle operations; map reading; completion of drivers' daily log books; pre-trip inspection of commercial motor vehicles and both safety and operational equipment; coupling and uncoupling of combination units, if the commercial motor vehicle to be driven includes such units; place the commercial motor vehicle in operation; use of the commercial motor vehicle's controls and emergency equipment; operation of the inner-city and interstate highway traffic and passing; turning, backing, and parking the commercial motor vehicle; and braking and slowing the vehicle by means other than application of the brakes.
Entry Requirements/What to Expect:
Please submit a copy of your driver's license, 10-year driving record, DOT physical, copy of social security card and copy of Beginner's Permit. Once items have been submitted you may register for class.
Upon request, you will be provided with information that will assist you as you are studying and taking the CDL Beginner's permit exam.
Drug screening will take place the first day of class. You can also expect to go through an additional random drug screen sometime during your CDL program.
Class "A" Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Course Description:
In just five short weeks (or eight weeks in the evening class) you can get your class "A" CDL! You will benefit from one week of classroom instruction and four weeks of intense, hands-on training and driving.
Course includes 164 hours of classroom and hands-on training when four students are enrolled (148 hours required if three students are enrolled) and testing. Training includes pre-trip vehicle inspection, vehicle control, range, and behind-the-wheel driving (required for skills testing).
This program is licensed by the SC Department of Motor Vehicles/Department of Public Safety.
Course Outline:
Class "B" Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Course Description:
In just 2 ½ weeks of training you can get your class "B" CDL! Be ready to enter the world of truck driving. The class consists of 50 hours of classroom instruction, 10 hours of behind-the-wheel driving and 10 hours of range experience. During the last two days of class you will be testing for licensure.
This program is licensed by the SC Department of Motor Vehicles/Department of Public Safety.
