Electro-Pneumatics or Hydraulics

This course covers the flow of fluid power through a complex system and the interaction of all components within a system or circuit. The course work revolves around extensive troubleshooting methods used in today’s modern fluid power machines. Participants design and build all related circuits and will learn about:

  • Principles of pressure and flow
  • Compressed air production, preparation, and distribution
  •   Control elements and switches
  • Normally open vs. normally closed
  • Direct actuated solenoid valves
  • Pilot actuated solenoid valves
  • Troubleshooting solenoid valves
  •   Pilot control of actuator
  • Directional control valves
  •   Ladder diagrams using relays
  • Memory control of an actuator
  • Single solenoid valves
  • Double solenoid valves
  • Automatic return
  •  Reed switch, magnetic field sensors, inductive sensors, capacitive sensors, optical sensors, ultrasonic sensors
