The Center for Workforce Excellence offers many courses in support of environmental topics.

HAZWOPER

HAZWOPER 40 Hour - is required for employees working on a project consisting of uncontrolled hazardous waste operation. This course is specifically designed for workers who are involved in cleanup operations, voluntary clean-up operations, emergency response operations, storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites and/or required by bid/contract. This course covers topics included in 29 CFR 1910.120.

HAZWOPER Annual Refresher - This refresher fulfills the requirements of 29CFR1910.120 for hazardous materials workers who previously have taken a forty-hour or a twenty-four hour waste site operations program.

DOT/RCRA – Shipping Hazardous Materials and Waste

In this class students will cover the DOT 49CFR, EPA 40CFR & OSHA 29CFR regulations regarding the packaging, shipping, paperwork processing  for the shipping of  Hazardous Materials & Waste via Air, Vessel, Rail and over the Road. Students will leave with all of the tools necessary to comply with all regulations while keeping staff and public safety as top priority. This class will satisfy the 3 year DOT training requirement.

Environmental Management Systems
Our course offerings include Lead Auditor, Internal Auditor, and Overview training on the ISO Environmental Management System standard ISO 14001

Water and Wastewater Treatment

Evening wastewater classes are for D and C level operators. B and A Class operators will also benefit from these courses by obtaining CEU's and getting valuable review material for B and A level exams. Operators can take any of the classes listed below for CEUs to keep their certifications current. People wishing to go into the wastewater field can take the entire series of wastewater classes without any experience and take their exam; however, it should be noted that you will not be issued the certificate until you have the required job experience. One year of job experience is required for each level. Exams are taken at other locations by arrangement with the SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Registration (LLR).
