The employment outlook in the chemical manufacturing industry is strong because we make the products that make life better for people every day. For example, our Agricultural Solutions business is working to make heartier seeds about to withstand the elements better to put food on your plate. Our Care Chemicals division creates products that go into cosmetics, detergents and more like dishwashing liquid, disinfecting wipes, shampoo, and more. Our catalysts division offers exceptional expertise in the development of technologies that protect the air we breathe, produce the fuels that power our world and ensure efficient production of a wide variety of chemicals, plastics and other products including advanced battery materials.

LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

We offer a wide array of internships for college students. Any junior in high school can apply for Science Academy. Our other programs are state or site specific and include TECH Academy (LA and TN), Teens Lab (AL), job shadow days, scholarships, career fairs and talks and co-ops.

LESSONS LEARNED

One thing I would tell my younger self when it comes to thinking about a career is to explore subjects that seem unfamiliar to see if there are things out there that I may enjoy that I never would have thought about. Then once you feel passionate on certain topics, continue to study those topics to make a career out of something you love.

OUR COMMUNITY SERVICE

Each site within BASF has its own community engagement program and finds ways to contribute to the communities we are a part of. We offer community advisory panels to educate and engage neighbors and people in our communities. BASF provides a wide array of scholarships to college-bound students who plan on a career in STEM. We also offer many educational opportunities such as partnerships with local schools to create individualized programming. Volunteer opportunities vary site-to-site but many of our employees volunteer with the Red Cross, at local food banks, with non-profit organizations such as Junior Achievement and more. We offer community clean-up days after storms and provide many community services. We also make significant donations to community organizations such as the United Way.
