There are no formal education requirements to obtain an aluminum die casting job, but many complete a certificate program in welding, machining, or a similar field to learn how to operate industrial machinery.

Our most successful associates are those who

  • Like to build or work with their hands
  • Perform well in the die casting field.
  • Have the ability to read blue prints
  • Possess solid math skills
  • Are skilled in trouble-shooting

GOOD TO KNOW

High pressurized aluminum die casting in the South is not common, so it is difficult to find applicants with direct experience. We do find that applicants with plastic injection molding experience have a better understanding of the overall process.

Our systems are becoming more robotic, so a basic understanding of hydraulic systems is very helpful when filling die cast positions.

Because we have an in-house foundry where we melt the aluminum, we do not have a heating/air conditioning work environment so the ability to work in any indoor weather condition is helpful.

Students who like to build with their hands would find development in the Tool Room. Students would encounter reading and interpreting specifications, troubleshooting and repairing of production equipment, operating gages and inspecting tools.

BEST PART OF WORKING HERE

The most fun about my job is to interact with all our employees and learn from their experience in the industry.

FUN FACT

We are responsible for preparing and shaping molten aluminum into casts, which act as molds for the liquid metal. It's interesting to see a liquid mold into a solid object that can be used in vehicles.
