STATE AID

All students receiving financial aid are required to read and understand the Terms & Conditions.

Tri-County Technical College is able to offer the following South Carolina state aid options:

Palmetto Fellows Scholarship & LIFE Scholarship

South Carolina Need-Based Grant

  • State funded program awarded to the neediest students
  • Awarded based on FAFSA information
  • Must be South Carolina resident
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (as defined by the US Department of Education for federal aid purposes)
  • Award amount varies annually

Lottery Tuition Assistance

  • State funded program awarded to South Carolina residents
  • Must have completed the FAFSA
  • High School students or students with Bachelor's degrees do not need to complete the FAFSA. These students complete a Lottery Tuition Assistance waiver form for the appropriate aid year and return it to the Financial Aid Office (First Floor, Ruby Hicks).
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA after attempting 24 or more semester hours
  • Award amount varies annually
  • Applies to cost of tuition only
  • Does not cover Continuing Education classes or non-credit classes

South Carolina Workforce Industry Needs Scholarship (SC WINS)

  • State funded program awarded to South Carolina residents
  • Must have completed the FAFSA
  • High School students or students with Bachelor's degrees do not need to complete the FAFSA. These students complete a Lottery Tuition Assistance waiver form for the appropriate aid year and return it to the Financial Aid Office (First Floor, Ruby Hicks).
  • Must be enrolled in a "critical workforce area"
  • Must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • Must complete SC WINS Affidavit
  • Must complete one of the following requirements: 1) be employed, 2) take a 30-minute financial literacy course offered at the technical college or 3) complete 100 hours of voluntary time contributing to a nonprofit or public service organization

SC National Guard CAP Program

  • The South Carolina National Guard College Assistance Program (CAP) is administered by the SC Commission on Higher Education and may be awarded to qualified members of the South Carolina National Guard.
  • Awards, when combined with other financial aid, can never exceed the Cost of Attendance.
