SCFAA Ernie Hinson Memorial Scholarship

The South Carolina Fertilizer and Agrichemicals Association is offering a $1,500.00 scholarship to a student attending a South Carolina college (other than Clemson University), majoring in agriculture and planning to pursue a career in agriculture. The Ernie Hinson Memorial Scholarship will be awarded August 5, 2022 at our Annual Convention and Business Meeting.

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Must be a US Citizen from South Carolina.
2. Must be attending a South Carolina college (other than Clemson University).
3. Must be enrolled full-time and have a cumulative 3.00 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
4. Must be planning to pursue a career in agriculture.
5. Must be majoring in one of the following fields of study: Plant Science, Agronomy, Agriculture Education, Agriculture Engineering, Genetics, Horticulture, Biology, Forestry, Wildlife Science, Animal Science, Natural Resource Management or other related Agricultural majors.
6. Winner agrees to furnish a two to three minute video telling a little bit about themselves, their goals and how the scholarship will help them to continue their education. Video will be shown at our Summer Convention and posted on our website.

Application Packet Must Include:

1. Completed application form. Form may be downloaded from SCFAA website: www.scfaa.org
2. Copy of your college academic transcript or a copy of your high school transcript if you are a freshman.
3. List of extracurricular activities, honors and recognitions received within the last three years.
4. Two letters of recommendation (limit one page each). Recommendations should indicate how they know you and why you should be considered. Letters should be from professors, employers or other persons who know you. Original letters must be signed.
5. An essay of no more than one page explaining your background, career goals and financial needs.
