Tri-County Technical College honors Becky Jo Davis Clark with Philanthropist of the Year award
PENDLETON, SC —Becky Jo Davis Clark is the 2026 recipient of the Tri-County Technical College (TCTC) Foundation’s Philanthropist of the Year award.
This is the Foundation’s highest and most prestigious honor reserved for individuals, foundations, companies, trusts, organizations or other entities that have made significant financial contribution, either cash or non-cash, to the Foundation to support the work of the College.
Clark helped fund the construction of the open-air terrace at Oconee Hall. Named in her honor, the terrace provides a gathering place for students to relax and enjoy the views of the surrounding landscape. Her gift also established an endowment to support employee professional development for years to come.
The honor recognizes not only Clark's recent gift to the College but also decades of leadership, service and advocacy. Throughout her career, she has helped expand educational opportunities, improve access to healthcare and strengthen childcare services.
“For more than five decades, spanning a diverse career that started at TCTC, Becky Jo has continued to recognize the College’s significance to our community and workforce,” said Courtney White, executive director of the TCTC Foundation. “She has always wanted to be part of our forward momentum.”
Clark joined TCTC in the early 1970s as a math and English instructor. Many of her students were Vietnam veterans returning to school to pursue new career opportunities through educational assistance programs.
“It was a means to create a better life for themselves and their families,” Clark said. “I was happy to be a part of that.”
From her beginnings as a TCTC instructor to her work as a financial planner, healthcare advocate, childcare pioneer and philanthropist, Clark has devoted her career to helping others. Her support of the Oconee Hall terrace and employee professional development endowment reflects her commitment to the College.
“The College has always been able to make good things happen for people, and that inspired me,” Clark said.
The award was presented Oct. 15 during the College’s Annual Report breakfast, which brings together community members and partners to celebrate TCTC’s yearly publication that highlights the College’s mission, achievements, strategic priorities and financial performance for the past year.
